Steip Amach sprang a shock in the Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown when proving too strong for hotpot Royal Navy Ship

Royal Navy Ship was sent off at the prohibitive odds of 1/6 in the Group Three contest over seven furlongs and bounced out in front.

He had Mandamus for company throughout but was asked to stretch on from that rival over a furlong out.

The Ballydoyle colt was tackled by Steip Amach inside the final furlong, however, and Jim Bolger's filly got on top inside the final 100 yards.

She kept on well in the closing stages, under Kevin Manning, to post a three-parts-of-a-length victory.

The winner, sent off the 12/1 outsider of the field, had been beaten into third when sent off favourite for a maiden at Navan just three days ago.

“She got bogged down in Navan, and the ground was a bit better here,” said Bolger afterwards.

“Seven furlongs or a mile doesn’t really matter to her. She’ll probably start off next year in a classic trial back here.   “

He's (sire Vocalised) the only source of Bold Ruler blood in Europe.”
