Ninth win for Monahullan Prince

Sun 30th Oct 2011, 15:02

Monahullan Prince is older than most Irish handicap hurdlers at the age of ten but the Ger Keane trained gelding was rewarded for some good recent efforts when recording his ninth career win in the Casey Concrete Slats Handicap Hurdle at Wexford today.

Runner-up on his last two starts, the son of Pyramus justified 9/4 favouritism under Andrew Thornton, when defeating Littletown Lass by three lengths.

Keane later said “Monahullan Prince seems to be back to his best. He received an injury at Ballinrobe last year and was out of action for a while after that.

“He needs to be covered up in his races and is in at Thurles on Thursday and might go there next. He leads the point to pointers at home and pings all his fences so we will go for a chase somewhere along the way too. I’ve had him since he was a two year old but he didn’t win until he was five!”
