Paul Nolan is hoping his Quamino will qualify to run in the Galway Plate as the Cheltenham festival winning trainer's gelding successfully reverted to hurdles at Roscommon today, winning the Knockcroghery Handicap Hurdle under an enterprising ride from Bryan Cooper.

Cooper elected to send the seven year old (returned the heavily backed 2/1 second favourite, from 11/4) into a clear lead from an early stage and the pair eventually scored a four lengths win over 7/4 favourite Mutadaffeq

Quamino was Nolan's first runner since lockdown ended and afterwards he stated “he was entitled to win on his chase rating and we'll head to Galway now.

“He has working well when he went away with the few we have to run and I left it up to Bryan today.

“He is rated 137 over fences and his next run will be in Galway. Hopefully he will get into the Galway Plate (July 29) - he might not get in this year with so many of the horses coming in early but he'll run if he does get in.”
