Paddy Pub takes the Binman

Sun 8th Nov 2009, 15:42

Paul Townend had a big success on Treacle in the Munster National at this track and the very talented young Cork rider again went away with the main prize of the day at Greenmount Park when he partnered Paddy Pub (3rd in the Munster National) to success in the Mr. Binman Garryowen Handicap Chase.

Sporting the yellow and black stripes of Kilkenny trainer, Kieran Purcell, Paul Townend led aboard the top-weight entering the straight and he went on to justify 13/8 favouritism by two and a half lengths from Away We Go

Purcell said afterwards: "We still have to find out what he is (how good he is). Hopefully he is a good one. He'll go for the Troytown next and the better gallop and the left-handed track will suit him. The bigger the fences the better and he loves a trip. He'll go on good ground too."
