They came together over a furlong out knocking second placer Starlight Dream slightly off his stride but Palm Beach (3/1) ran out a good winner of the Behans Horseshoe Bar & Townhouse Maiden (Div I) at Listowel.

There was merit in the performances of first, second and third here, as just a length and three parts of a length separated Ballydoyle’s Palm Beach from Starlight Dream (15/8), and the staying on third home, My Sister Sarah (13/8 favourite).

“He had a good run the last day in Tipp, he was fourth — he’s a big backward aul divil but he won snug today so there just might be a little bit more to come,” said winning jockey Seamie Heffernan.

“The Galileos, nothing fazes them. Some of them, their muscles or different things catch them out. He’s brave enough and he handled it though (the heavy ground).

“He (Aidan O’Brien) is not afraid to send any of the real good ones to any of the country tracks because they learn. They learn plenty and they learn quicker.”
