Paul Townend picks up one day ban

Mon 21st Jul 2008, 19:22

The Stewards interviewed Paul Townend, rider of Compton Court (GB), in the presence of his master Willie Mullins, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.

Evidence was heard from both Willie Mullins and the rider concerned, who after viewing the closing stages accepted that he was in breach of the guidelines with regard to his use of the whip.

Having viewed the video of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Paul Townend had used his whip with excessive frequency and they suspended him for 1 raceday (August 4th tbc).
