Sat 26th Mar 2011, 14:51

Robbie Power recorded his first winner since steering Bostons Angel to win the RSA Chase at Cheltenham last week, when landing the opening Family Fun Day 17th April Maiden Hurdle at Navan today, on Captain Paulie

Captain Paulie moved clear of his rivals from two out before eventually comfortably holding the challenge of Ross Na Righ on the run-in.

Afterwards winning trainer Colm Murphy stated “Captain Paulie and his owners deserved that! He has had quite a few problems and we were waiting all winter for this ground.”

“We’ll aim him at a winners’ race next as long as the ground is good.”

Well beaten favourite Clonbur was found to be clinically abnormal post-race.
