Dolce Sicily made full use of her prime draw in stall one when making all for a convincing win in the first division of the sprint handicap at Sligo.

Leigh Roche bounced out to lead on the Lee Smyth-trained filly and she was asked to stretch turning for home.

The daughter of Epaulette kept on strongly down the straight to record a two-and-three-quarter length win over Alice Milligan

It was a second career success for Dolce Sicily and her first since winning a maiden at Fairyhouse in June 2019.

"This filly has been consistent without being consistent!" said Smyth.

"We bought her to go to Wolverhampton but unfortunately with restrictions we haven't been able to go there. We've been running her at Dundalk and she wasn't enjoying it at all.

"We set her up to come back here because Racheal Blackmore rode her around here last year and finished third on her off about 20lbs higher.

"I thought she really handled the track well that day and I thought there's only one place to come back to. When we got the draw we were smiling and I said our luck's finally come in!

"She's done the job well and there's not a lot of pressure on her now that she's got a few quid back!"
