Roche seen to good effect

Fri 8th May 2009, 20:20

Padraig Roche was seen to good effect when winning The Broomhill Point Flat Race aboard the Conor O'Dwyer trained Woodmore at odds of 9/1.

Roche and O'Dwyer had to survive a Stewards Enquiry when Roche got close to the John Kiely trained Aughnacurraveel under Mikey O'Connor in the closing stages of the race.

O'Dwyer said afterwards, "I'm delighted with that. He probably deserved that he's been 2nd in his last two bumpers and the better ground probably helped him here today. He still has a bit of growing up to do but in time he should turn out to be a very nice horse."
