Amateur jockey Katie Walsh steered Young Dillon to a 15 lengths win the concluding Racing Post Ladies Bumper at Downpatrick today, scoring on its second outing, for his impressed trainer Mags Mullins.

Walsh kept the son of Vinnie Roe racing prominently throughout and the gelding responded well for pressure in the closing stages, to eventually record a staying 15 lengths win over Angus Milan (13/8f).

Young Dillon was third on debut at Cork and following today's win, an impressed Mullins stated “I think he's a very good horse. He came in out of a field unbroken last year and he's improving all the time.

“He's still a little bit of a baby but he's really genuine and when Katie got off him, said he's a good horse.

“He's in the Doncaster Sales next week and his owners Peter Magnier and Tom O'Brien are my neighbours in Tipperary - I bet they're having an Irish coffee now on that one!”
