Shark limbers up for Galway

Fri 23rd Jul 2010, 19:30

John 'Shark' Hanlon and his partner Rachel O'Neill had a moment to savour at Wexford this evening as they combined in the training and ownership roles as their One For Joules landed the Blackstairs Claiming Race under Martin Harley.

Harley got the winning daughter of Choisir to the front a furlong and a half down and despite dropping his stick under a furlong out, One For Joules still got home by two lengths from the well-backed Walter De La Mare (9s into 6s).

Hanlon said: "She was unlucky in Killarney. She got into all sorts of trouble with Danny (Mullins). She was entitled to win a little race and she'll probably go to Galway now on the Thursday.

"She loved the ground and Kevin Manning got off her two runs back and told us never to run her on hard ground again.

"Unfortunately it's not looking like Truckers Delight will get into the Galway Plate. They told me that the cut-off point has never been as high. He is rated 130 and it's looking like he won't get in so I'm raging.

"The other horse, Luska Lad (Galway Hurdle hopeful) is in serious form. He did a great bit of work in Tipperary and I'm happier now with him than any time since I started training him. I'd be expecting yielding ground by the time Thursday comes around."
