It was a great finish to the day for Adam Short at Sligo as he completed a quick double in the final two races when Shanklys Dawn took the concluding three-mile handicap chase.

The Philip Rothwell-trained mare was following up on her success at Wexford earlier in the month.

She jumped well at the head of affairs for Short but looked under serious threat when Gunfire Reef moved up stylishly to challenge at the second last.

That rival couldn't match the 5/1 winner on the run-in, however, as the daughter of Mountain High found plenty to record a three-parts-of-a-length win.

Rothwell said afterwards:- “It’s lovely to win another chase with her, and Adam gave her a super ride.

“She’s in Downpatrick tomorrow in what looks like an ordinary chase again, and we’ll see how she is in the morning. We might just try again.

“She stayed going really well as Danny looking like he was coming to beat us but she put her head down and battled really well. Weight I suppose helped too.”
