Morph Speed was pulling away at the line to run out a convincing winner of the first division of the nine furlong handicap at Tipperary.

Richard O'Brien 's charge chased the leaders throughout in the 45-65 contest but Scott McCullagh was rowing along on the Morpheus gelding before the straight.

The 11/4 favourite stuck to his guns well in the closing stages, grabbing Kew Palace passing the furlong pole and galloping on strongly to post a three-length win.

Morph Speed had been third on his first outing for O'Brien at Dundalk ten days ago.

"It was his first run for me the last day and I actually thought he'd win the last day and was a little disappointed because not a lot went wrong. He has done that very well today,” said O'Brien.

"For a horse of his age he is unexposed as he hasn't had a lot of racing.

"I think he'd be fine over a mile but he is in over 11 furlongs at Limerick on Saturday in another 45-65 so all things being equal he'll go there.

"Johnny Hassett the breeze-up consignor gave him to me as he is too busy at the moment and allowed me have him for the last six weeks. He'll be pleased and I'm very grateful to him.

"Scott is riding plenty for me and I don't understand why he isn't getting more opportunities. He is a terrific young rider."
