Placed just once from seven previous starts, Tejano nonetheless made her experience count in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

Willie Byrne, claiming 7lbs off the back of Jim Bolger’s Teofilo 4-year-old, sent her to the front from stalls and she was ridden clear of her rivals over a furlong form home.

Six lengths and one length were the winning margins at the line with 3-year-old newcomers Pappina (10/3) and Woodland Garden (5/2 favourite) filling the placings.

"She travelled everywhere for me and absolutely loved making the running," said the winning rider Byrne.

“When I asked her to quicken up she quickened up nicely. I never felt under pressure at all and she stayed the whole way to the line, she won easy.

“She likes a bit of ease in the ground and it couldn't have worked out any better.”
