Pat Flynn’s lightly-raced Travelwise (6/1 co-fav) was far too strong for his 17 rivals in the 1m apprentice handicap at Naas and cleared away to win by four lengths in the hands of Ben Coen.

The Duke Of Marmalade gelding, having had three outings in maidens in 2017, missed all of last season and returned with a fine second on handicap bow at Limerick earlier this month.

He came forward from that to get the better of Popsicle (20/1), Clonville (8/1) and the fourth home Avalanche (12/1).

The winning rider Ben Coen said : “He was green turning around the bend but once I got a gap and got going he flew for me.

“A mile suits him for the time being but once he gets settled he can go further. He’s a nice horse for the future.”
