Busted Tycoon prevailed in a thrilling three-way finish to the opening juvenile maiden hurdle at Tramore this afternoon.

Dougal Philps attempted to make all in the two-mile contest and was clear from the second hurdle.

His lead was reduced after the third last but Paul Townend looked to have kept a bit up his sleeve on the front-runner.

Age Of Glory and Busted Tycoon tried to chase down the leader from before the second last.

Dougal Philps tired on the run-in and the chasing pair flew home to grab him in a tight finish with Busted Tycoon on the outer just getting the verdict, under Martin Ferris, by a head.

The Tony Martin-trained winner, sent off a 14/1 shot, had been well beaten on two previous outings over timber.

“She's a nice filly and appreciated that better ground. Hopefully she'll win a couple of novices over the summer,” said Martin afterwards.

Alizari sent off the 9/4 favourite, never got involved back in fifth.
