Walsh hoping for Punchestown return

Jockey Mark Walsh, who suffered a fractured wrist in the Aintree Grand National, is hoping to return to action in time for the Punchestown Festival.

Walsh, who has ridden 20 winners this term and rides many of owner J.P. McManus’ runners in Ireland, was partnering McManus’ 100/1 chance Quolibet when his mount blundered him out of the saddle at the eleventh fence.

Speaking today, his agent Garry Cribbin stated “Mark received a fracture to his left wrist and is due to see specialist Paddy Kenny at Blanchardstown Hospital today. He is hopeful of being back in time for the Punchestown Festival.”
