Ronan Whelan brought up a treble on the night and it was a double for Michael Halford when Feminism gained a deserved success in the seven-furlong maiden at Dundalk.

The Godolphin filly had been placed on three occasions, including on two recent runs here recently, and ran in blinkers for the first time tonight.

Whelan produced the 5/2 shot with a strong challenge up the inner inside the final furlong and she got on top close home to beat Wonder Elzaam by a neck in a tight finish.

“She's a grand filly, always has been, but things just didn't go her way,” said Halford.

“She wants a nice surface and I'm delighted that Godolphin had patience and left her with us to get the job done.

“She deserved to get her bracket, she's a nice filly and I think she could train on next year and there would be more racing in her.

“I'm not sure what the plans are but it's great to get the bracket. It's important as her full-brother (Modern News) has done well as a two-year-old.”
