The well-travelled Zelos Dream who is now on her sixth trainer, recorded her second career success as she went once place better than last year in the Golf Membership At Gowran Park Apprentice Handicap.
Trained by Seamus O’Donnell and ridden by Gary Halpin the daughter of Redback was sent off an 8/1 chance after running well on last few starts.
Settled in mid-division she made progress on the outer approaching the straight and hit the front under two furlongs from home.
She was ridden a furlong from home and she kept on well from there to score by a length and three parts. The Home Ruler was sent off the 3/1 favourite (from 4's) under Sean Corby for Mick Halford and he finished second while the well-backed Daigreen (12’s into 13/2 on-course) was a further length back in third under Ian Queally for George Webb.
O’Donnell, who was recording his first winner since May 17th 2012, said afterwards: "She was second in this race last year. I thought she ran well at Fairyhouse and was a little unlucky. We then took her to Redcar and I thought she'd win but she disappointed a bit.
"She loves it here and loves juice in the ground. Now she has gotten her head in front hopefully she can win another one. Gary gave her a great ride."
