Preview killarney 14th May

Sun 13th May 2012, 12:20

The middle day of Killarney's May Festival is headlined by the McSweeney Arms Hotel Handicap Chase.

Tranquil Sea is no longer the force that won the 2009 Paddy Power at Cheltenham, as well as the John Durkan a year later, but he ran well enough at the Punchestown Festival and tops the weights.

Powerstation, another popular performer over the years, doesn't have many miles on the clock over fences and reverts from timber on a comparatively lenient rating.

Your Busy had Ordinary Man one place behind when chasing home Frisco Depot in a Limerick Grade Two and is better off at the weights with Gala Dancer, who beat him at Clonmel last September, but the latter made little impact on his first outing since at Punchestown last week.

The M.D.O'Shea & Sons Hotel Hurdle has attracted a decent field and it will be interesting to see if Realt Dubh backs up after Sunday's exertions here.

Catch Me and Dancing Tornado are better known, more recently anyway, for their exploits over the larger obstacles, whereas Won In The Dark is a specialist hurdler, although he cut no ice on the level at Clonmel last week.

Flaming Pop fared better than Thynetocatcher when fourth in a Fairyhouse Grade Two event and despite struggling at Punchestown after, she should confirm her superiority in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle at 5.50.

Champagne Agent got off the mark in a Cork bumper and now goes jumping in the Keg Security Tralee Maiden Hurdle, while his stable companion Boxer Georg should have won more races than he actually has but still commands plenty of respect in the Dan Linehan's Bar Hunters Chase.

Elsie has had the misfortune to bump into top-notchers Champagne Fever and Don Cossack on her two appearances to date, but meets nothing of that calibre in the Killarney Racegoers Ladies INH Flat Race.
