FormscanBy Alan Magee - A disappointing turnout for this Grade 3 event and ASTERION FORLONGE gets the vote to show his class over Lucid Dreams in a match. The Willie Mullins-trained grey gelding won a Grade 1 as a novice hurdler but hasn’t won over fences since landing a valuable handicap at the Punchestown Festival in 2021. He was running a cracker when falling at the last in the King George at Kempton later that year and has been mainly campaigned over hurdles since including a creditable sixth last time behind Teahupoo in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham. Lucid Dreams hadn’t run just over a year ago but has certainly made up for lost time since winning six of his 19 starts. John Ryan’s charge has scored over a variety of trips and was second to Ash Tree Meadow in a Grade 2 at Navan earlier this month.
