Day 2 Highlight - Punchestown Gold Cup

The superstars are out in force on the second day as dual Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs heads the betting as odds-on favourite. It is a race he was beaten in last year by Fastorslow and the two reoppose here, however the Willie Mullins-trained star is bidding to emulate Sizing John by winning the Irish, Cheltenham and Punchestown Gold Cup.

Fastorslow is back following his unseat in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and is second favourite in the market. The Martin Brassil-trained eight-year-old is the only horse to have lowered the colours of his arch rival.

Aintree Grand National winner 2023 Corach Rambler looks to follow up on his excellent third in the Cheltenham Gold Cup for the Lucinda Russell team.

Trainer Shark Hanlon is excited to saddle Hewick if the ground comes up good, recently stating that the King George winner is in flying form after Aintree and he is currently around 14-1.

Very sadly, Shishkin, who was due to run, lost his life on Sunday when fracturing his back leg after becoming cast in his box.
