Favourite backers got off to a winning start at Punchestown today, when The Hurl proved the well backed 11/8 winner of the Dobbins Catering At Punchestown Maiden Hurdle, for trainer Mouse Morris and stable jockey Niall Madden. Tue 27th Oct
He's a good horse. After Navan we took our time with him. We've always rated him. He was off the track for two years and you need to mind him but he has plenty of ability. We've no plans . we'll see how things pan out and we'll pick and choose with him. He handles that ground but we always thought that he'd go on better too. Paul gave him a super ride and produced him very well.
A Oliver
The owner (Patrick McElroy) is from Castlewellan in County Down. The horse came to me three months ago, having been off for over two years (won a bumper at Newton Abbot in July 2008 on his debut for Tim Vaughan).
