Bertie another winner for Lyons & Keane
Ger Lyons & Colin Keane recorded their fifth winner of the week as Bertie Le Belge got off the mark on the first time of asking in the opener at the Curragh, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden. Sun 08th Jun
How he's won over six furlongs I'll never know! Colin said he got there and then idled. He's won like a nice horse, and hopefully will get a bit further. The fact that he won over six furlongs had us confused.
G M Lyons
I never thought for a moment up the straight he'd win and I don't think he learned as much as I would have liked at the Curragh on his debut. He came out wide then and was away from the other horses and it was like his first run tonight. There's plenty of improvement in him and you have to love his attitude but that's as fast as he would want it. He'll get further and we'll take our time with him and look to the Futurity Stakes down the road.
G M Lyons
He has been ready to run for quite a while. He was a bit slow into stride but he handled the ground. That's as short as he would want to go but it is a nice place here to introduce a two-year-old. I like him and he is a typical Big Bad Bob.
G M Lyons
