It was a bit fortuitous with Mala Beach falling but you need luck any day of the week. I'm delighted to get a number back in front of Boston Bob's name and on ground he wouldn't particularly like,. It was a good run by On His Own and I loved the way he battled back. At his stage in life he doesn't kill himself, and I'd say Patrick is looking forward to riding him in the National and maybe in the Gold Cup as well. Boston Bob and On His Own are both in the Gold Cup and the National. I'll have to talk to Graham (Wylie) but they could run in both races. Turban was good over that trip and is qualified now for the National. He ran in the Topham last year, and is also on course for the National.
W P Mullins
We missed a bit with him but he schooled over fences at Leopardstown and David Casey was happy with him. We'll give him another piece of work before we decide if he goes for the Gold Cup, World Hurdle or to Cheltenham at all.
W P Mullins
That was a nice performance. He hasn't been doing that at home on the gallops and I didn't expect anything like that. Mourad ran poor and coming here I wouldn't have been surprised if this lad had done the same. The owner (Graham Wylie) is keen to go for the World Hurdle. Whether that's a World Hurdle performance or not I don't know but we may go along that route.
W P Mullins
there was a day we galloped a few at Thurles some time ago - horses we thought were top horses. One of the young lads in the yard was riding Boston Bob and he came through the other horses going easily and we thought that day we had a racehorse. I thought he had the size and scope to carry today's penalty but three out I wasn't so sure! Ruby said he hated the ground and his pedigree says he should go on better ground. He looks a big strong chaser and we look forward to him going chasing next season. He could have gone chasing this season but we just decided to go ‘through the motions' over hurdles for now and it has taught him to race.
W P Mullins
He looks a very nice recruit. The way he jumped he'll make a nice chaser but I think he will have a good Novice Hurdling career and I won't be afraid to go anywhere with him.
W P Mullins
