I've liked him all along and he is tough. Davy (Condon) wasn't happy over the first three hurdles and said he didn't seem to handle the track. It was only late on that he put things together and he may be better going right handed. he is ground dependent and while he handles soft ground against Flat horses, it would be different were he to race against winter horses on soft. He'll stay going as long as the ground stays good.
Noel Meade
We haven't had many runners and the ground wouldn't have been suitable. It didn't suit this fella either and he got some ride. I'm delighted for a few different reasons. I sold him to a few fellas last spring before Punchestown and he ran badly after which they rang to say they weren't taking him. They didn't pay and I hope they're sore now; they know who they are! . Philip and his brother 'Abbie' (sons of former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds) bought him before he ran at the Curragh. I've never met Philip and we've only chatted on the phone so I'm delighted for him. He's a summer horse and he barely got away with the ground. He never travelled and Fran coaxed him into it. He's in again on Sunday (the Trappers Inn Maiden Hurdle) and we'll see how he is.
Noel Meade
that was the plan! It looked like he was going to win easily one day at Fairyhouse but was finding the trip in bumpers too long. He is out of a half sister to Jazz Messenger so maybe that's where he gets his speed. I'm glad to have a winner as things have been a bit dry recently and Curley Bill will probably run in a Flat handicap next.
Noel Meade
We were very disappointed at Fairyhouse (2nd there to Expanding Universe), we thought he would win. Maybe we went a bit too soon there with him. You can blow a horse up in the last two furlongs.
Noel Meade
