It was (a smashing performance). He had been off the track for so long. We didn't want to school him either because he is very keen. He settled well and jumped very slick I thought. He was very, very slick. He's very keen and he was as a flat horse. When we bought him they told us that. I have one man riding him out and he rides him on his own so I don't see much of him in the morning either! . We were hoping that he wouldn't disgrace himself. I was hoping that if he brought his best game here that he'd win but those things don't always happen. When he was saddled up below in the stableyard I had a look at him and he looked very porky. We felt he had enough work done but he still looked like he was carrying a tummy.

persistence pays off! He deserved that win. He could easily go out in trip as he's a dour stayer and a good jumper; he keeps improving with every run.
W P Mullins
we said we'd run him today eventhough we didn't think he'd go on the ground.
W P Mullins
that looked very good and it was a nice progression from his Gowran run. He can jump, gallop and stay and I don't think you need much more!. I don't know if he'll have another run before Cheltenham but he's on the short-list. He missed one or two hurdles but I think it was because Paul was trying to settle him - he might prefer going on a bit faster. It's hard for a four year old on only his second hurdle start to go out in front on a big open track with no rail but we decided to make the running because there didn't appear to be a lot of pace. Paul said he picked it up after two out and came back on the bridle. He's very keen, which was a feature of his flat runs, and I was hoping hurdling might settle him more, and I think he will settle with more racing.
W P Mullins
A brand new stirrup leather broke at the start and that caused the delay (race went off eight minutes late). The metal part broke. He hurdled very well for his first time and hopefully there will be nice improvement in him. He did it nicely and we will be looking to up him in grade now.
