4 from 4 at Down Royal for Patrickswell
The general consensus among form book readers was that Patrickswell would be unable to bring up the hat-trick in the Citybeat Handicap, the opener at Down Royal, owing to the testing conditions. However the admirable grey once again proved that love can conqueror all and his affection for the Maze now sees his record stand at four runs – four wins. Sat 23rd Jun

Footprint isn't the easiest horse to win with, but when you've guided home an Irish National winner earlier in the week, getting a sprinter to the number one in a six furlong event on the polytrack is a relatively straight-forward task. Andrew Thornton accomplished the feat on Footprint in the concluding Racing At Dundalk Handicap. Fri 13th Apr

the handicapper has been fair to Empirico and he was also a bit unlucky on his last two runs. I didn't quite think he'd handle that ground although he was fourth in the Rockingham here last year with a bit of cut in the ground. We'll see what the handicapper does with him . hopefully he won't be too harsh and he may come back here again for another try at the Rockingham on Oaks Day.
David Marnane
He's a lovely horse. He's had a lot of problems but when he's good he's very good,. We brought him here today as the ground was getting a bit quick for him and I don't want to chance him too often on it. He likes this surface and we might give him a bit of a break now until we get some juice in the ground. That's his third win this year and he's starting to creep up a bit but he's an improving sprinter.
David Marnane
He's a lovely horse. I was actually going to pull him out on account of the fast ground but we took a chance and it paid off. He's a better horse on softer ground and that's as quick as he'd want it. We might give him a little break now and wait for the softer ground.
David Marnane
He's had a lot of problems in the past, we've always liked him and hopefully his problems are in the past. It's great to get off the mark. We'll probably try and find something similiar for over five or six furlongs.
David Marnane
