Flying Jib another eyecatcher for Weld
Dermot Weld’s Flying Jib (6/4) put her rivals in their place when powering away to win the seven furlong fillies maiden at Dundalk. Sun 18th Aug
Kevin rode a double for me a number of years ago at Leopardstown when Pat was away in Australia. He gave her a very positive ride, and the filly responded. We'll have to consider her for the Irish 1,000 Guineas. She won a Listed race well here last year, and I think she'll appreciate a mile. My one concern today was that it would be a furlong too short for her but she battled well.

That was a very pleasing performance. She won easily on the polytrack at Dundalk and I thought this would be a nice race for her provided the ground stayed good. She is a good actioned filly and she wants good ground. I think you'll find that the first three are all smart fillies. That might be it for this year although I'll have to speak to Lord Grimthorpe (Jaber Abdullah's racing manager). I mentioned to him that we might consider the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
