Definite Surprise well named
It was hard work for punters in the Coolmore N.H. Sires Leading Light & Ocovango Maiden Hunters Chase as the first three spots were filled by twenty and twenty five to one chances. Appropriately enough the winner was named Definite Surprise and Iggy Madden's charge was ridden to victory by Johnny King at Cork. Mon 06th Apr
he (winning jockey Darragh O'Keeffe) gave him a super ride even though he was done three out but it was just a rough race. He is better with a good break between his runs and I've made the mistake of running him back quick a few times and it took me a long time to figure it out. We'll try and squeeze another one out of him and he cant get too much for winning that.

That was like watching paint dry! He was running well enough and he deserved to get one but the trouble was to place him, and I actually thought it was too soft for him today. In fairness to the young lad (Darragh O'Keeffe) he got stuck into him and was good. He picked up for him and he kept driving; he's not an easy ride, he's a young man's ride. He took a bit of driving and Darragh is a fit young fella. He has a great owner Tom Murphy, who works in the golf course in Midleton, and he is on every month before he gets the bill looking to pay you; he is a really genuine owner and I'm delighted for him to have a bit of luck. Tom has had great fun with him but he has thrown away a few races in the past when idling in front.
W J Burke
He’s after throwing away three races, and even the last day in a point-to-point he put in a slow jump at the last. He’d a bit of a leg problem last year but he came back. He handled the ground better than I thought he would but Turtle Island’s normally do. He will probably run in a handicap later in the year. The cheek-pieces helped him.
