Koshari makes it three for Mullins
Koshari might have got the last wrong but he was still good enough to bring up a treble on Ladies Day at Punchestown for Willie Mullins, in the Star Best For Racing Coverage Novice Hurdle. For owners Rich and Susannah Ricci it was two on the day, and it was the same for successful rider Paul Townend. Fri 29th Apr
I said I'd throw the whole lot at it, which we did, and it seems to have paid off. I think we might have to take him off the for sale list, he's entered in Doncaster. Ricky produced him lovely. I said to him that I wouldn't have backed you turning for home but he said 'no I was going well, I just wanted to keep tight but when I gave him daylight he just took off'. He's a horse that has come back from injury and he's won two this year so we're very pleased with him.
W P Mullins
It was nice to get it and was a proper training performance from Willie to have him back here in that shape after a long layoff. He has done well physically from his break, did it well today and hopefully he can pick up a few more races.
W P Mullins
He's not a natural jumper on that ground and I think if I can find another race like that before the end of the season it'd be lovely. It'd be hard to see him fighting out finishes at Punchestown but we'll search around the country and go out in trip. He can race along during the summer and nicer ground might suit him better. He could also mix it between hurdles and fences. Robbie (Power) had ridden him twice before and he's just not a natural jumper and Robbie knows him well and I thought I'd leave it like that. I hadn't intended running him but when I saw there were so few runners, I stuck him in at the last minute.
W P Mullins
He was very green. I just wanted to get a run into him to see what we had before we put him out. He doesn't look too bad,. I don't know how good or bad he is but he looks a nice model and of course he's by Walk In The Park. He's not four until the end of May. He'll probably stay hurdling next season rather than go chasing.
