It was an exceptional ride from Barry and you'd want to know him. From a neutral point of view at certain stages you'd say he was beaten but he never gives up. He'll keep going at whatever speed he's at and he was a bit in front for a while on his own. He's a real soft ground horse and it might be hard to get it soft like that again before the end of the season.
Oliver McKiernan
He jumped well throughout. We thought 2m 7f here might be a horrid slog (the last race on the card) and two miles on this ground would be like 2m 2f. Barry claimed five pound - he knows him well and gave him a great ride. He's a real soft ground horse so time is probably running out on him. We'll see what happens and there could be another run in him yet.
Oliver McKiernan
I’m a bit surprised as he’s not a two-mile horse but the ground suited him. He’s just a staying horse and we said we’d let him bowl along. I thought they had gone too quick in front but he kept at it well. It’s great for James as that’s his first winner and he works for us. He gave him a grand ride. He’s a lazy horse at home and he wouldn’t light any fires under you with his work. He’ll probably go for another hurdle and he has the option to go back over fences.
Oliver McKiernan
He kept pulling out a bit, and soft ground suits him,. Hopefully he'll improve and we'll find another handicap at this distance or three miles. The syndicate is made up of family relations from Cavan and Offaly.
Oliver McKiernan
He said he'd keep finding for me and he did — he grinded it out well. He was lugging out all the way up the straight and he was having a good look around. He's a grand type of horse though. He's had a couple of runs over fences so he can go back that route as well. It took a long time for the penny to drop with him but we worked him at the Curragh the other day with a hood on and it crowned him. He still showed a bit of greenness in the straight today. He wasn't concentrating at all. We rode him more positively today and he might improve again as the handicapper can't be too hard on him.
