Miley Shah one to remember for Kenny & Walsh
The Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Directors (Q.R.) Maiden Hurdle looked a pretty winnable contest beforehand and it was Miley Shah (first track winner for his handler John Kenny) that took a step forward to land a bit of a 'touch' in the two mile five furlong contest. Sun 19th Aug
I'm delighted it worked out the way it did but I thought the ground would be too quick for him. He handled it well though and was fit and healthy coming here. We ran him over the banks at Punchestown to see how he'd get on but his legs went from under him at the fifth. He ran a smashing race here a few years ago and I was happy to come back with him. I've no major plan - he's ten and will tell me!

He was very sick since Christmas and it took a while for him to come right. He did his first bit of real good work last Thursday and we'll probably look for a winners of one and step him up slowly. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him and we can have a shot at a nice handicap at some stage. He got his own way in front there which helped and he's a soft ground horse.

He went down to the first the last day and butted it and that was the end of that. We put cheek-pieces on him today, upped him in trip, we let the young fella out of the yard ride him and it's all helped to do the trick. I hope the handicapper won't be too hard on him. We'll probably up him in trip again and put him in a handicap. I've had two point-to-point winners and I've had my licence three years. We have four horses for the track for the winter. My father, Simon Joe owns the horse and he has had horses with Irene Oakes and others in the past.
