Our Girl Salley takes last
The concluding race on this afternoon’s card the Punchestown Flat saw a convincing winner in the Prunella Dobbs trained Our Girl Salley. Sun 06th Dec
She took a little bit longer to get out this year. We want to finish the season with her so we didn't want her out too early. Prep races were hard to find. She ran over two miles twice which didn't suit. There aren't very many races for her. We'll look at the Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas and there's a couple of nice mares races for her in England at Ascot and Doncaster. The mares race at Cheltenham is definitely an option for her. The good ground might suit.
Mrs Prunella Dobbs
Our Girl Salley didn't pick up quite as well as she did the last day but I don't think Barry was too hard on her. Whether today's ground was her ground I'm not sure. We'll move forward now and will aim her at another mares hurdle here in mid-February while she will be entered in the novice hurdles and the Mares Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Mrs Prunella Dobbs
She must be so good as she had such a poor preparation for this race. We had about a foot and a half of snow in Wicklow and she just walked around in the snow for five days up to Christmas eve before we could do a little bit of work with her,.
Mrs Prunella Dobbs
She's a winter horse and it takes some getting the two and a half miles in soft ground at Navan. She put in a superb jumping display and settled very well. The plan now is to find a nice mares novice hurdle,.
Mrs Prunella Dobbs
She's a wonderful mare a great joy to train. Today was a real step up in class but she rose to the ocassion. I was disappointed that Katie [Walsh] was suspended today but Andrew gave great her a wonderful ride. Punchestown beckons but we'll have to see how she comes out of the race. I'm delighted for her owners the O'Neill's they are great sport and very patient with their horses.
Mrs Prunella Dobbs
It's a big relief for me as I had a family bereavement - my brother died this week. It's a little lightness, it's wonderful to come here and have a win,. She's a lovely lovely mare and really wants to race and enjoys it. We'll put her away now and bring her back in the autumn for a jumping campaign.
Mrs Prunella Dobbs
She's an absolute dream to train and she has wonderful temperament. I think she has a lot of potential. We will probably go for another bumper as she's only four and she's not fully mature yet. Her owner's have been wonderful and get great pleasure of out their winners and I'm just delighted for them.
Mrs Prunella Dobbs
