I would have been disappointed if he wasn't competitive here. Most of his form is good. Naas wasn't as good the last day, but sure he had loads of good runs before that. He was a good third in Cork before Christmas in a good handicap hurdle and third again at Clonmel. Someone was backing him today, but it wasn't me. He runs well most of the time, but hardly ever wins. I'd say he'd jump a fence sooner rather than later, it'll get harder for him now with another penalty for this. He might go on the Flat too, he ran well on the Flat before.

It looked a good opportunity and Danny got a great tune out of him. It was a long time coming for him over hurdles but he had run well in a similar race at Tramore recently and today's race cut up so you had to be reasonably confident. He'll keep going and will try for another handicap hurdle somewhere.

That was brilliant and I'm delighted for the joint-owner with me, Donal Doyle, who has been with me a while. He is a great man and is well able to manage expectations and loves the racing game. He had been disappointing up until now, but is a good, strong horse who went on that sticky ground, stayed the trip and might jump a hurdle now.
