he did it well and stepping up the extra half mile to two miles really suited him. Over a mile-and-a-half last time he was just finding things happening a bit quick for him and definitely two miles is more his trip. Tonight was the plan really, to come back for the two miles and I’ll speak to the owner and see what he wants to do now. Hurdling is the plan really with him. We said we’d keep him going when he was in good form. He wants good ground and is a serious hurdler.

Wayne said he bounced off the surface and the blinkers also helped. He ran in a schooling race here a few weeks ago and loved it,. He's disappointed a couple of times over hurdles, and was in great form going to Cheltenham but for some reason it didn't work out. He doesn't like being crowded. There are not too many two-mile races here over the winter but we'll try and find something, and leave the hurdles until we get better ground next year.
Matthew J Smith
I was surprised with how well he won it. I was a bit worried about the ground but Bryan knew where the best of it was and gave him a great ride. The plan was Killarney and this wasn't really the plan until the other day. It's been a lucky race for us as Rawnaq won it a few years ago and was beaten just a neck last year. I was expecting a big run today and would have been disappointed if he wasn't in the first two or three. He could possible still run at Killarney in two weeks time.
Matthew J Smith
He has plenty ability but was flat out early on and I didn't think we had won. He'll come on from the run and will run in a two mile handicap at the Curragh next weekend and then go to Galway.
Matthew J Smith
It was a nice introduction and he's a nice prospect going forward. Keith gave him a great ride. He's done plenty of schooling and was very good. We would probably have preferred a lead over the first one or two but he found himself in front and it was no bother to him. I don't know where we'll go next - I'll talk to the owner. I'm just happy to get that out of the way. Two-and-a-half miles would be right up his street. I thought the two miles might be a little bit too short for him but he handled it well being ridden like that.
Matthew J Smith
He is an improving horse. I was a bit worried about the track coming from Galway as it is totally different but he has definitely sharpened up a lot.

I've two wins and two seconds for the week. Everything I fancied ran well. It's massive for me to have these two wins. You could have 10 or 12 wins down the country, but the whole country tunes in here. He ran okay in Dundalk maidens, but took a while to find his feet. The ground was an unknown and I would have taken him out, but being Galway we said we'll see if he goes on it. He's a good-actioned horse and should make a smashing jumps horse. He fully came off the bridle coming down the hill, but he's gutsy and tough. John Oxx advised me to buy him. He was a big backward type and never ran for him.
