Robbie Colgan is reported to be none the worse following a heavy fall in the second race at Punchestown on Thursday.

Colgan was forced to stand down for the remainder of the card after coming to grief at the third-last fence aboard Ludo Et Emergo in the Three.ie Handicap Chase

Although taken to Naas General Hospital for further checks, it was confirmed the rider had suffered no injuries.

Dr Adrian McGoldrick, the Turf Club's senior medical officer, said: "Robbie Colgan had a nasty fall at Punchestown which left him very confused but not unconscious.

"He was taken to hospital for a brain scan which produced a clear result. He was absolutely perfect when I spoke to him last night.

"He will be stood down now for six days as standard before being re-tested."

Conditional jockey Connor Maxwell escaped a shoulder injury after suffering a mid-race fall in the Orchid Transport Mares Novice Hurdle.

The 3lb claimer took a tumble at the fifth hurdle in the two-mile contest aboard 40-1 outsider Scooping.

McGoldrick said: "Connor Maxwell had quite a heavy fall in the second-last race and I thought he might have broken his right scapula. He was taken to hospital but the scans showed he suffered no breaks."
