The Punchestown Gold Cup is the highlight on Wednesday, along with two other Grade 1 contests. Ruby Walsh and Rory Delargy have made their Day 2 selections on Paddy Power’s most recent episode of ‘From The Horse's Mouth Podcast: Punchestown Day 2 Tipping’

Punchestown Gold Cup
Is there anything the team can do to help Galopin Des Champs win at Punchestown, Ruby?
I don’t think it’s the track at all — he bolted in here in a novice hurdle after winning the Martin Pipe. He had a Timeform rating of 170 at Punchestown when he won the John Durkan so I think the track is definitely a poor argument to be making.
But I do think that he is obviously always trained to peak at Cheltenham and I think when you listen to Paul Townend’s interview after last year’s Gold Cup, Paul felt when you’re by the line that he’d got to the bottom of Galopin Des Champs.
And that bore out at Punchestown. I think in this year’s Gold Cup, the winner was spectacular.
But I never wanted to be on Galopin Des Champs, he couldn’t even go with Gentlemansgame to the first fence whatever was up with him and I think because of that when he opened up off the home turn, Inothewayurthinkin went by him in three strides.
Paul Townend I think flicked him once behind the saddle — the race was over. He was beaten and I don’t think he’s had as hard a race in this year’s Gold Cup as he has had in the previous two years and I think that’ll be enough to get him home on Wednesday afternoon.
The ground will suit him, Paul will be good and positive on him and I just don’t think he ran his race. Having said that I think he would have had to have run a career best and a bit with it to beat Inothewayurthinkin.
I think he was brilliant in the Gold Cup, I’m not taking away from him in any way at all but I don’t think Galopin Des Champs showed his true running and I think he could do on Wednesday.
Paddy Power: 11-10 Galopin Des Champs, 5-2 Spillane’s Tower, 10-3 Banbridge, 17-2 Monty’s Star
Channor Real Estate Group Novice Hurdle
Jasmin De Vaux is the starting point and I gave him a big chance at Cheltenham, but I do think the nature of the track and where the hurdles are really suited him. Two hurdles in the last seven furlongs.
Unfortunately at Punchestown he has three hurdles in the last five — it’s a completely different test and jumping comes into play at Punchestown. I still don’t know if I trust him that much.

I think Argento Boy’s only chance is if somehow they manage to bypass all the hurdles the way he’s been jumping so I’ve given up on him. But I do think Honesty Policy stepping up in trip, the way he came home at Aintree when he beat Regent’s Stroll.
I think he’s the safer option here jumping wise and I’m going to side with Honesty Policy to beat Jasmin De Vaux.
Paddy Power: 6-4 Jasmin De Vaux, 9-4 Honesty Policy, 6 Cardcounter, 8 J’Arrive De Mee, 10 Familiar Dreams, 20 Argento Boy, Fleur In The Park, 33 Luckinthecity

Obviously the starting point should be Bambino Fever and she was really, really good, but I don’t think the race worked out at all for Copacabana.
I thought he was far too far back, they didn’t go a good enough gallop, he got trapped unbelievably wide on the track and ultimately got well beaten, but I was with him going to Cheltenham, I think he’s a really good horse and I’m going to go with him again. Seven runners and I’m just hoping that Patrick makes a hell of a lot more use of him.
Paddy Power: Evens Bambino Fever, 4 Colcannon, 6 Copacabana, Kalypso’Chance, 10 Switch From Diesel, 14 Classical Creek, 50 Sunny South West
