Noel Meade has been amongst the winners under both codes in recent days and is looking forward to the Punchestown festival.

Smart stayer Affordale Fury, beaten only a length when second to Stay Away Fay in the Albert Bartlett last month, is one of the Castletown handler's main contenders at the jumps season finale. Sent off a massive 150/1 at Cheltenham, the layers will be treating the chances of the Affinisea gelding with a lot more respect next week.

Outlining running plans for his team, Meade said: “Affordale Fury runs in the three-mile (Irish Mirror) novice on Wednesday. He seems okay after his run in the Albert Bartlett. You never really know until you run them but we’ve been very easy on him since.

“Nucky Johnson (a dual winner over 2m) will probably run in the Red Mills Final even though it is two and a half miles. He’s in a handicap as well.

“The Model Kingdom may run in the Mares Novice Hurdle on the first day although it hasn’t been easy to get her right after Cheltenham (unplaced behind You Wear It Well). She didn’t come home that well so we’ll see how she works before deciding.

“Lieutenant Command will possibly run in the 2m5f handicap as might Jerandme or the three-mile Pat Taaffe. Both of them need good ground.

“Beacon Edge will probably run in the Grade 1 (Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle) as he doesn’t like competitive handicaps that well.”
