The ground at Ascot remains good to firm for day three of the Royal meeting.

Thunderstorms had been anticipated at the Berkshire venue overnight and while it did rain, the track saw just 2.4 millimetres up to 6.30 this morning.

Further showers are possible today, with thunderstorms forecast for Friday.

Clerk of the course Chris Stickels said: “We had 2.4mm of rain overnight and it is just starting to rain lightly now.

“We may see an occasional shower this morning before racing and a possible sharp shower this afternoon.”
