IrishRacing.com has analysed nearly 200 000 data points across Google Reviews, TripAdvisor, Facebook, and Yelp, to find out which racecourses in Ireland and Great Britain are best reviewed, on average.
Ascot came out top 1 with an average score rating of 4.58 while in Ireland Punchestown Racecourse is the best reviewed track with the average score rating of 4.61 (out of 5).
IRELAND - BEST & WORST REVIEWED RACECOURSES

According to analysis of 24 120 reviews of 26 racecourses in Ireland:
Punchestown Racecourse came out on top with the average weighted score rating of 4.61 (out of 5).
Laytown Racecourse (avg rating: 4.57) is the second best rated followed by Wexford Racecourse (avg rating: 4.54).
The worst reviewed racecourse in Ireland turned out to be Navan Racecourse in 26th place with an average weighted score of 4.11, still a very high score.
SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS - Ireland
We also compared the followers on various social media channels to see which racecourses were the most popular in Ireland:
On Instagram, Galway Racecourse has the most followers - 20 400, followed by Punchestown Racecourse (16 800 followers) and Leopardstown Racecourse (17 100 followers).
On Twitter, Curragh Racecourse has the most followers - over 36 200, followed by Leopardstown Racecourse (34 300 followers) and Naas Racecourse (26 700 followers).
On Facebook, Galway Racecourse has the most followers - 95 000, followed by Leopardstown Racecourse (57 000 followers) and Punchestown Racecourse (50 000 followers).
On TikTok, Galway Racecourse hashtag has the most views - 7.4 million, followed by Curragh Racecourse (692 000 views), and Punchestown Racecourse (362 800 views).
UK - BEST & WORST REVIEWED RACECOURSES

According to analysis of 175 000 reviews of 58 racecourses in the UK:
Ascot Racecourse came out on top with the average weighted score rating of 4.58 (out of 5) - it had a rating of 4.6 on Google, 4.5 on TripAdvisor, 4.5 on Facebook and 4.0 on Yelp.
Goodwood Racecourse (avg rating: 4.53) is the second best rated followed by Bangor-on-Dee, (avg rating: 4.506).
The worst reviewed racecourse turned out to be Worcester Racecourse with an average weighted score of 3.6, followed by the second-worst-rated Newcastle Racecourse (avg rating: 3.66) and Uttoxeter Racecourse (avg rating: 3.79).

We also compared the followers on various social media channels to see which racecourses were the most popular in the UK:
On Instagram, Ascot Racecourse has the most followers- 125 500, followed by Cheltenham Racecourse (95 800 followers) and Windsor Racecourse (44 500 followers).
On Twitter, Cheltenham Racecourse has the most followers - 165 500, followed by Ascot Racecourse (over 132 000 followers) and York Racecourse (65 100 followers).
On Facebook, Ascot Racecourse has the most followers - 250 900, followed by Cheltenham Racecourse (117 000 followers) and Aintree Racecourse (95 700 followers).
On TikTok, Aintree Racecourse hashtag has the most views - 7.6 million, followed by Newmarket July Racecourse (4.3 million views), and Ascot Racecourse (3.9 million views).
METHODOLOGY
- List of racecourses in the United Kingdom and Ireland was collected and then, reviews from Yelp, Facebook and Google Maps were combined to form a weighted average ranking.
- Only racecourses with over 100 total reviews were taken into consideration.
- If a rating for a given website was not available, it was not included in the overall weighted average.
- Reviews and followers collected in June 2023.
