Bellewstown Fri, 3rd Jul, 2026
Minaun View the three horses had good chances although I wasn't expecting that, so it was grand and it is great to get a winner down here. Minaun View had a lovely run, he (jockey Patrick McGettigan) was drawn wide but he got to the front so was able to settle it down on him. Fair play to him. She travelled well and she had only ran on Wednesday. She's solid but it is the first time she has won and we had to drop her back to this class to win. She had been running well in handicaps but was just not getting there. She wanted a little ease in the ground. If she is not claimed, we will roll away with her. |

Pierre Royal Barry Potts was with me when we bought him. We liked him, he was very lightly raced and had a nice profile. We thought there was a good bit of improvement in him. He cost 48,000 and he was well bought as usually those horses are making treble that. They are not easy bought. He looked a nice model, and we’ve been lucky out of Mr Weld’s before. It was nice to get another one. He’s a big horse and he needed a bit of time. We love Ballybrit so I’d say that will be our next port of call. Then Champions Weekend and then we might have to get our suncream! |

Johnny Soda We were very, very close to taking him out. Adam got off Goal Exceeded and said 'I wouldn't run that chestnut horse. I think it'll be too quick for him'. We were humming and hawing and, the boys (Go Nutz Racing Syndicate) said that we'd run him and not to punish him if he wasn't handling it. We all got it wrong!. He is a big horse and he is quite a heavy horse as well. You wouldn't want that type of ground now too often for him. We'll probably get away with it today. Adam was good on him. We said we'd just jump out and we knew there was plenty of pace on and he did that. He picked up well and galloped to the line well. I think the likes of Galway could suit this fella. I think there is a nice three-year-old only 0-90 down there and that's probably where he'll head now. |

Goal Exceeded He wasn't winning out of turn. He was being a little bit frustrating after last year. He won a good race up the Curragh on Guineas weekend. He's been consistent since he came back in. I thought the ground was going to be a bit too lively for him, but he just about got away with it. We'll maybe go back to the Curragh next week. There's a couple of races there that might suit him. There's a six and a seven (furlongs). We might go back there. We'll see what the handicapper does with him. He's well capable. He's a fairly good horse on his day. Adam gave him a lovely ride. We had a lovely draw and, then he dropped him right in and, he was very patient on him. He got a lovely split up now, but it was a very good ride there tonight. Thanks be to God he got his head in front for the lads. We'll look at the Curragh next weekend and see. Hopefully he'll be alright. |
