The Shantou gelding was a useful bumper performer last term when runner-up to Invitation Only at the Punchestown Festival, and was running a big race when falling at the last in the Clonmel maiden hurdle won by Crack Mome in December. He disappointed in a Naas handicap last month and the form of the Robert Tyner yard gives a little cause for concern, although some encouragement can be taken from stable-companion Midnight Stroll finishing second in a valuable sales race bumper at Newbury last Saturday. Tony Martin and Ruby Walsh are a dangerous combination but Lyreen Lad needs to step up on his three maiden runs, while Inspector Caldy showed a little more behind easy winner Bold Emperor here last time.
