FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - It would be remiss of any point-to-point follower not to tip-up THE BLARNEY ROSE for this. One thing's for sure, if the daughter of Oscar were to repeat some of her scintillating displays 'between the flags' then she'd be a bit of a 'good-thing' for a handicap like this off 95. I saw her on demanding ground at Killaloe back in February and she was very impressive. To put form like that in a bit of context, Dizzy Rascal, oft placed and since a winner on the track, was a well-held third on that occasion. Anyway, The Blarney Rose may have lost her sparkle subsequently but she returned to form in no uncertain terms at Boulta last time. Brendan Crowley has now won five on his father, Stuart's charge, and his seven pound claim brings down the well-bred Oscar mare's weight to a miniscule ten stone one. She has a big rival in the similarly lightly-weighted Sherika. She only went down by a neck to the bang-in-form Happy New Year 15 days back and a reproduction of that is going to put her right in the mix, with Mark Enright helping further by claiming five pounds. Others have chances too, no doubt, but they might struggle to concede lumps of weight to the likes of The Blarney Rose and Sherika.
An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards mares only rated 80-116Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won.
