The nine-year-old gelding is a course winner by virtue of a novice hurdle success a couple of years ago, and appears to be nearing peak fitness after a few runs this spring. He was taking on a useful sort in Woodland Opera at Fairyhouse and returned to that track when third at the Easter Festival meeting. Eight Till Late has proved something of a Limerick specialist in the past with three of his four career wins coming at that venue but he also went close here last autumn when headed close home by Bashful Beauty. The Desert King gelding didn’t shape too badly over 2m4f at Limerick last time, and should appreciate this better ground. Rufino had Ballyfinboy back in third when making virtually all to open his account at Tramore last month, while any market move for Oighear Dubh would be significant. Tony Martin’s charge won a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle last September, and now makes his handicap debut over fences with the stable back in better form after a very quiet spell.
