FormscanBy Alan Magee - ORDER OF ST GEORGE won this last year by 11 lengths after wet weather provided some cut in the ground, and it is hard to look beyond a repeat win. The Galileo colt showed stamina is his forte when taking a soft-ground Ascot Gold Cup in decisive fashion, and warmed up for this with a comfortable win in the Group 3 St Leger Trial over course and distance last month. It’s hard to pick holes in his form but the odds available are obviously not appealing. The race has cut up badly with the selection scaring away a lot of the opposition and perhaps Wicklow Brave, third last year, can again make the frame. The seven-year-old gelding is classy under both codes having won the County Hurdle in impressive fashion at Cheltenham last year, and his ability to handle soft ground should prove important as the rain belts off the roof at the time of writing. Trip To Paris enjoyed a great time last year winning both the Chester Cup and the Ascot Gold Cup and, while without a win since, is certainly respected.
