FormscanBy Tom Weekes - MIDNIGHT RUN could be the one to beat following two good bumper runs todate. He showed plenty ability in winning first-time out at Galway in October, with the third placed horse subsequently winning while he then confirmed that ability when finishing behind high class prospect Envoi Allen at Navan in December. That rival since won again while the third placed horse also won on his next bumper start. MIDNIGHT RUN is clearly smart and again has the advantage of his rider's 5lbs claim. Similarly owned Column Of Fire has also shown useful bumper form, notably when second first-time out in the Landrover Bumper before winning at Navan in November. A small concern today is his latest two hurdle outings have been underwhelming and it is notable connections have opted to revert to a bumper today, possibly with the intention of preserving his novice hurdle status for later in the year. Easywork is a notable newcomer and while Lisa O'Neill typically rides the Elliott/Gigginstown bumper runners, Jamie Codd is nonetheless a notable booking for the gelding whose dam was a AQPS winner with a good French pedigree. Ballylig ran well in a hot Down Royal bumper in January and can get involved if progressing from the run while Whatsnotoknow was seemingly well fancied for his bumper debut at Gowran last month but needs to show more today.
