This race could hardly have been more dramatic twelve months ago, but hopefully we'll have a more straightforward affair this time around. The one who makes most appeal to me is A PLUS TARD. A brilliant winner of the Close Brothers Novices' Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last month, the French bred five-year-old steps up in trip to three miles for the first time now. The manner of his victory in the Coltswolds would suggest that this trip may prove ideal. Delta Work was a close-up third in the RSA at Cheltenham, and is the one to beat on form. However he a tough race there, and may just need to be freshened up again to be seen at his best. The same can be said for Drovers Lane who finished sixth in the RSA, while it'll be interesting to see how Discorama fares after he was heartbreakingly denied in what a controversial National Hunt Chase. A mistake at the last proved costly for Getabird at Limerick over Christmas, and while he hasn't been seen since, he looks a leading player here with Ruby Walsh aboard. The seven-year-old son of Getaway won a point-to-point in his early days when trained by Colin Bowe, and he steps up to three miles for the first time since in this Grade 1 contest. Fellow point-to-point winner Articulum was an excellent third in the Arkle at Cheltenham, and he can't be dismissed, while Chris's Dream and Winter Escape complete the line-up.
