FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Time is running out for some of the leading fancies here to win their turf maidens this year and with that in mind, SWISS COTTAGE is the pick as he seems to be better suited by this trip than the Ballydoyle runners. SWISS COTTAGE is clearly no star having raced unsuccessfully 14 times now, but he has shown a useful level of ability, comes here in good form from a yard doing well and is also a proven performer at a mile. Madrid has been undoubtably disappointing throughout his career thus far and while he ran well enough in a useful handicap at Leopardstown latest, he now takes a big drop in trip for this, which surely wasn't part of any grand plan. Stablemate Freetown has been similarly disappointing given his pedigree (by Galileo and being a half-brother to Group 2 winner Vitoria) and while he has shown some useful bits of form, his recent efforts have been disappointing. Today might well be his last start for Ballydoyle as he now drops back to a mile for the first time in his career. Madame Delavanti is a proven miler and while her form is fairly useful, she does need to improve to win this type of maiden. Country Garden ran well on debut but hasn't run for 69 days now while Gallitea is tried in first-time cheek-pieces and is another to drop back to a mile for the first time, with time running out for a grass win.
