FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Before tipping him up for his Kilbeggan assignment last time I said the following on MAJOR DESTINATION. Major Destination's dam, Clara Allen, was a very smart racemare, as she showed when triumphing in the 2005 Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh. Her mating with Dubai Destination produced Major Destination, and he showed that he wasn't devoid of ability when finishing second at Dromahane in a point-to-point about a year ago. He lost out by just a short head on that occasion when in the care of Paul Cashman. Acquired subsequently by present connections for 32,000 pounds, the Tu Va Stables representative seems likely to enjoy the lively underfoot conditions. Then after Kilbeggan I wrote - There was a pretty impressive winner of the bumper at Kilbeggan as Champayne Lady put her stamp on the www.kilbegganraces.com (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race in no uncertain terms close home. This was a pretty lively betting heat and the first and second favourites, Major Destination (2/1 from 3s) and Or Jaune De Somoza (11/4 into 9/4) were the subject of most of the bets. They both had their chances but could do no better than third and fourth respectively as 8/1 chance Champayne Lady in the hands of Steven Clements, came through after getting a patient steer to lead and assert from the furlong pole. Two and a half miles here and a tongue-strap could be of big benefit to Major Destination.
